Exhibitions remember Dien Bien Phu Victory

A series of exhibition will be held this April to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954-2024).

An exhibition entitled ‘Duong Len Dien Bien’ (Way to Dien Bien’ will kick off on April 26 at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi, displaying 70 paintings, sculptures, sketches, and posters selected from the museum’s collection.

The works on display recreated the preparations for the Dien Bien Phu campaign as well as the bond between the people and army during wartime, which can be seen through the paintings of Duong Huong Minh, Tran Dinh Tho, Nguyen Sang, and Tran Khanh Chuong.

The exhibits also praise the brave fighting spirit of Vietnamese soldiers and the sound leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap during the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

Also on April 26, the National Archives Centre 1 in coordination with the Dien Bien Provincial Department of Home Affairs will open an online exhibition on the history of Dien Bien Province on the official websites of the two units.

The exhibition introduces more than 300 photos and documents on the history and development of Dien Bien Province, as well as popular sites in the locality, such as Ban Phu Citadel, the Dien Bien Phu battlefield, and Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument.

On April 25, the Vietnam National Museum of History in Hanoi will host an exhibition themed ‘Dien Bien Phu – Forever shining spirit’.

Visitors to the exhibition will be introduced to 150 pictures and documents chronicling the timeline of the Dien Bien Phu campaign, French colonialists’ Navarre plan, Vietnamese Party’s guideline in response to the plan, and the Vietnamese people and army’s determination to win the campaign.
