The event was organised jointly by the Vietnam Association of Kieu Studies and the Ha Tinh provincial People's Committee.
Speeches delivered at the symposium analysed and highlighted the immortal vitality and beauty of the Vietnamese language in the Tale of Kieu across many aspects such as: local languages in the Tale of Kieu; and the beauty of theVietnamese language in various excerpts and scenes, among others.
In addition, the symposium also discussed the master's artistic skill in scene depiction, themes of humanity and love and his linguistic skills in the description of these and his manipulation of classic stories.
On the occasion, the Nguyen Du and Tale of Kieu Foundation made its debut in order to preserve and promote the heritage values of the Tale of Kieu.
The Tale of Kieu is an epic poem with 3,254 verses written by Nguyen Du (1765-1820) in ancient Vietnamese Nom ideographic script and is widely regarded as the most significant work of Vietnamese literature.
It has also been translated into 20 languages, including English, Russian and French, and over 35 other versions.
Records of the tale have featured in various artistic adaptations such as newspapers, the fine arts, cinema and theatre, all of which have contributed to honouring the cultural beauty that the tale has offered to Vietnamese cultural and spiritual life.
