Addressing the event, Politburo member and Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan spoke highly of the attainments of Vietnamese writers and artists over recent years, noting that they have continually accompanied the nation during its revolutionary cause.
Readers want literary and art works that sincerely and profoundly reflect the life and people of Vietnam, promote humanistic values, while uncompromisingly combating the negative, she noted, adding that the VULAA has made comprehensive reforms in its organisation and operations so as to provide a favourable environment for its members.
She also told the VULAA to thoroughly prepare for popularising the 13th National Party Congress, slated for late January, and internalise its guidelines to be approved at that event so as to apply them in its activities, helping create high unanimity in society for the sake of an affluent, strong, democratic, equal and civilised Vietnam.
The congress defined the union’s key tasks for 2020-2025 as developing Vietnamese artists comprehensively in both quantity and quality with the aim of boosting creativity which helps nurture the Vietnamese people’s soul, focusing on the values of sound morality, personality and lifestyle. It approved a 27-member presidium for the VULAA in the 2020-2025 tenure.
