Da Nang boosts investment, trade and tourism cooperation with China’s Shandong Province

An investment, trade and tourism cooperation conference between Vietnam’s Da Nang City and China’s Shandong Province was held on September 6 in Jinan City, within the framework of the Da Nang City leaders’ working trip of to the Chinese locality.

The event attracted the participation of more than 100 delegates from associations, groups and businesses operating in various fields across Beijing, Guangzhou, Jinan and Yantai.

In his opening speech, Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Da Nang City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Council said that since the establishment of their cooperation in 1996, Da Nang City and Shandong Province have signed and effectively implemented many memorandums of cooperation in various fields, ranging from culture and tourism to administrative reform, urban planning and management.

He pledged that Da Nang City authorities will continue creating favourable conditions for investors from Shandong Province and China in general, to do business activities in the city.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the Shandong Provincial People's Council Wang Yihua emphasised, that Shandong Province is willing to cooperate with Da Nang to further promote friendship, thereby contributing to the development of Vietnam – China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

He proposed that the two localities continue to strengthen cooperation in such fields as economics and investment, trade, high-tech agriculture, tourism and cultural exchange.

At the conference, representatives from the Da Nang Investment Promotion and Support Department introduced potential and investment opportunities for Da Nang City to Chinese businesses and investors.

As of July 2023, Da Nang City has attracted 1,009 FDI projects, with a total investment of more than 4 billion USD, including 93 Chinese-invested projects, totalling nearly 118 million USD.
