Da Nang views the development of cultural industries as a crucial strategy to harness its cultural heritage, create high-value-added products and services, and unlock new drivers of economic growth.
The city is prioritising six key cultural industries: performing arts, cinema, fine arts and exhibitions, cultural tourism, digital content, and handicrafts.
By capitalising on the city’s inherent strengths, these sectors have the potential to generate tangible products, establish viable markets, and achieve long-term growth.
Beyond serving as a promotional event, the conference served as a concrete step towards connecting resources, attracting investment, and fostering an ecosystem capable of generating real economic value. It also provided a platform to solicit innovative ideas, initiatives, and solutions from experts, scientists, professional associations, artists, and investors to propel Da Nang’s cultural industries forward.
Discussions at the conference centred on successful models and policies for developing cultural industries; investment attraction strategies; solutions for human resource development and digital transformation; and the establishment of creative complexes, entertainment centres, and creative spaces, as well as the development of cinema, the night-time economy, concerts, and distinctive local products.
Participants proposed leveraging that the Da Nang Asian Film Festival could help the city broaden its audience and market reach while nurture local talented human resources. They also urged the city to actively pitch Da Nang’s advantages to attract international film crews; develop creative economy models linked with the growth of cultural industries; and implement mechanisms to encourage greater business participation and strengthen cooperation among local authorities, businesses, and communities to achieve breakthroughs.
Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee, affirmed that the city authorities would continue to work alongside investors to create a fair, transparent, open, and highly favourable business environment. She pledged ongoing improvements to incentive mechanisms and policies, enhanced support in infrastructure, premises, and human resources, and a strong push for public-private partnerships (PPPs) to unlock creative resources and infrastructure potential.
The conference concluded with the signing of five memoranda of understanding between the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee and domestic and international businesses and organisations. These agreements established comprehensive strategic partnerships for the development of Da Nang’s cultural industries; cooperation in developing the film industry and positioning Da Nang as a premier destination for domestic and international film productions; and the development of cultural industries and tourism through festivals, events, and concerts linked with the growth of the night-time economy.
