Speaking at the event, Dong Trieu City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Cong affirmed that the official establishment of Dong Trieu City marks an important historical milestone and a great step forward, opening a new era of development.
With the position of a young city, Dong Trieu has more strength and favourable conditions to maximise its potential, create strong breakthroughs, and contribute positively to the prosperity of the whole province and the region.
As a locality located in the key economic triangle of the Northern region: Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh, near major urban areas and cities such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ha Long, and Hai Duong, along with a convenient transportation system connecting by road, waterway and railway with major economic centres in the region, Dong Trieu plays a driving role in economic development in the western region of Quang Ninh Province.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Dang Xuan Phuong emphasised that the Dong Trieu City Party Committee needs to continue to consolidate the Party organisation, build a strong political system, quickly complete the apparatus, perfect the staff and Party members; resolutely fight corruption, waste, negativity, further promote socio-economic development; strongly promote advantages in industry and services; focus on key areas such as coal mining, construction materials, agricultural processing, tourism and trade services.
In particular, completing the regional transport infrastructure is extremely important to promote the circulation of goods and attract investment.
In addition, it is necessary to focus on developing high-tech agriculture, building cooperative economic models, and linking production and product consumption.
It is necessary to promote clean and organic agricultural production and meet domestic and foreign consumption needs; promote administrative reform; deploy e-government; apply modern management models, increase publicity and transparency in operations; and develop technology infrastructure, train high-quality human resources to meet the requirements of the digital transformation process.

On this occasion, the Dong Trieu City Party Committee announced the decision to establish, appoint, and convert the Party Committee titles of Binh Khe, Yen Duc, Duc Chinh, Thuy An, and Binh Duong wards and merge the two communes of Viet Dan and Tan Viet; People's Procuracy Party Cell, People's Court Party Cell of the city.
