CMAP goes beyond its role as a location search tool, allowing users to access continuously updated information on cultural and artistic events, traditional festivals, sports competitions, and heritage tourism itineraries in real time. It also provides related information, promotional policies and directions, enabling users to easily locate and access cultural activities and destinations.
Notably, CMAP is expected to be interconnected with the VNeID electronic identification system and other related digital platforms, opening opportunities for cross-sectoral data integration. This will enable search services to be tailored to individual users' needs while effectively supporting the goals of developing the digital economy and digital society.
By accessing CMAP, residents and tourists can proactively explore destinations and plan itineraries according to their individual needs and preferences. Management agencies will have an additional reference tool for monitoring event density, assessing tourism carrying capacity, and evaluating the status and potential of cultural resources, thereby supporting management and policymaking.
Meanwhile, localities and businesses will gain an additional channel through which to introduce and disseminate information, improve their understanding of the market, and make more effective investments in creative cultural service chains.
In reality, Viet Nam possesses a rich wealth of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, alongside an extensive network of cultural institutions. However, many of these resources have long remained fragmented and confined within individual localities. Against this backdrop, the launch of CMAP, which initially integrated approximately 400 events across all 34 provinces and cities nationwide as of its operational launch in early November 2026, has opened an official data integration channel, helping to bridge the gap between heritage sites, cultural institutions and the public.
The initiative also helps translate into practice the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW (dated December 22, 2024) on breakthroughs in the development of science and technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, and Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW (dated January 7, 2026) on the development of Vietnamese culture.
However, for every geographical location on the digital map to inspire people to visit and experience cultural activities in real life, the flow of data must be continuously nurtured. To achieve this, CMAP needs to be enriched with data that is regularly updated in accordance with the criteria of being accurate, complete, clean, and dynamic.
This requires a standardised data operation mechanism based on coordinated and consistent cooperation among ministries, sectors, localities, agencies, and organisations operating in the cultural sector. Each link in the system must have clearly defined duties and responsibilities for regular updates, ensuring data accuracy and interoperability.
According to experts, alongside efforts to strengthen data infrastructure connectivity, CMAP should also integrate additional direct payment and smart tourism platforms to provide users with a seamless experience. At the same time, the community should gradually become an active contributor to the platform's development through two-way interaction, reviews, and open data contributions, subject to professional verification by researchers and management agencies.
Furthermore, amid the growing popularity of independent travel, the platform needs to offer a wider range of languages to facilitate access for international visitors and become an effective tool for promoting Vietnamese culture to the world. This will also help turn cultural resources into valuable digital assets, contributing to the positioning of the national brand and strengthening Viet Nam's soft power.
