Over the past 80 years of construction and development, as a professional unit of the Party Central Committee under the direct and regular leadership of the Secretariat, and as the theoretical and political publishing agency of the Party and the State, the Su That National Political Publishing House has made unceasing efforts to successfully fulfil all tasks entrusted by the Party, the State, and the people, achieving many accomplishments of historical significance.
Its publications have played an important role in educating, fostering knowledge, and enlightening people’s ideology; serving as a sharp political and ideological weapon to denounce colonialism and imperialism; disseminating Marxism–Leninism, Ho Chi Minh’s thought, and the Party’s line; nurturing patriotism; building great national unity; combining spiritual strength with the power of the times; and inspiring and mobilising the entire people to join the revolutionary cause, the struggle for national liberation, and the building and defence of the Fatherland, reinforcing the Party’s indeological foundation.
During the resistance war against the French colonialists, operating in the Viet Bac war zone under numerous hardships and dangers, publishing house staff remained steadfast, staying close to the realities of resistance in order to promptly publish revolutionary materials and works that provided ideological orientation and encouraged the entire population to join the struggle, demonstrating their dedication and resilience.
Many books published by the Su That National Political Publishing House represent the high level of theoretical thinking on strategic national issues, vividly reflecting the rich and evolving realities of the country, generating strong resonance among cadres, Party members and the public; becoming handbooks for officials across sectors; and fostering widespread political activities nationwide.
Tens of thousands of titles have been published, meeting the study, research, and political awareness needs of cadres, Party members, and the people. Its publications are not only materials for communication and education work, but also authoritative sources of knowledge, helping shape a revolutionary worldview and outlook on life, and fostering the qualities, capabilities, and political steadfastness of Vietnamese people through different stages of the revolution, contributing to the continuous consolidation of ideological foundations.
Many of the publishing house’s works have become exceptional cultural assets, portraying leaders, major historical events, and Viet Nam’s ethical and humanistic values. Through each book, the publishing house has contributed to shaping and spreading Viet Nam’s political cultural identity – steadfast, humanistic, modern, and imbued with national cultural values.
In his congratulatory letter to the Su That National Political Publishing House on the occasion of its 80th anniversary, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that many of its publications possess profound theoretical and practical value, contributing to enhancing the Party’s leadership and governance capacity; building a clean, strong political system; fostering political ideology among cadres, Party members, and the people; effectively serving external information work; and promoting Viet Nam as a peaceful, reforming, integrating, and developing nation, reflecting its vital role in the Party’s ideological and theoretical work.
In response to the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in recent years the publishing house has actively promoted digital transformation, applying modern technologies in management and publishing, and developing electronic and digital publications. The introduction and communication of books have been strengthened, along with the development of many free electronic bookcases and digital libraries to spread the value of theoretical and political knowledge, enabling cadres, Party members, and the public to conveniently access materials across various digital platforms.
In addition, bookcases and libraries at grassroots level, political–social libraries, and legal bookcases have been established in numerous localities and units, enriching spiritual life, improving intellectual standards, and significantly contributing to building cultural life and promoting a culture of reading.
For its significant contributions to the revolutionary cause, the Su That National Political Publishing House was awarded the Third-class Labour Order by President Ho Chi Minh, and has been granted many high distinctions by the Party and the State: the Gold Star Order (2005), two Ho Chi Minh Orders (1990, 2000), and the title of Labour Hero (2015). On the occasion of the 80th anniversary, the publishing house was awarded the First-class Labour Order.
It can be said that over the past 80 years, the Su That National Political Publishing House has not only left its mark on the history of Việt Nam’s revolutionary publishing, but has also become an inseparable part of the ideological history of the Party and the nation, playing an important role in forming the theoretical foundation, shaping spiritual values, and reinforcing social trust in the path of national development chosen by the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and the Vietnamese people.
