Among the highlights is “Ho Chi Minh Writes the Declaration of Independence”, meticulously compiled by author Kieu Mai Son with rare documents, offering readers a deeper insight into the historic moment when Viet Nam declared independence. Other works retrace President Ho Chi Minh’s journey to find a path for national liberation, including “Ho Chi Minh – A Man and a Nation” and “In His Footsteps”.
For the first time, Kim Dong introduces a colour-illustrated edition of “The History of Our Country”, a poetic chronicle written by Ho Chi Minh in 1941 that recounts Vietnamese history from the Hung Kings to modern times. Its opening verses, “Our people must know our history / To understand our country’s origins”, remain widely remembered today.
Another notable title, “Portraits of 15 Ministers of the Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam (August 1945)”, presents for the first time detailed accounts of the nation’s earliest cabinet members, from President Ho Chi Minh to General Vo Nguyen Giap.
The collection also includes biographies of pioneering revolutionaries such as Ton Duc Thang, Tran Phu, Ngo Gia Tu, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, and To Hieu, alongside “Living in the Resistance”, the wartime diary of writer Nguyen Huy Tuong, and the reissued “Forever Twenty”, the moving diary of martyr Nguyen Van Thac.
Several titles explore Viet Nam’s long struggle for independence, including “An Illustrated History of Viet Nam”, “A Thousand-Year Homeland”, and “The Young General Vo Nguyen Giap”. In addition, the atlas “Under One Roof – 54 Ethnic Groups of Viet Nam” celebrates the cultural richness of the nation’s diverse communities.
According to Vu Thi Quynh Lien, Deputy Director and Editor-in-Chief of Kim Dong Publishing House, the series aims to honour Ho Chi Minh, pay tribute to past generations, and instil pride and confidence in today’s youth as the nation enters a new era.
To accompany the book launches, a symposium titled “Ho Chi Minh – A Model of Lifelong Learning” will be held at the Viet Nam Exposition Centre on August 28, featuring historians and educators sharing insights into President Ho Chi Minh’s enduring legacy.
