The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos hosted a banquet in Vientiane on August 28 to mark the 81st anniversary of the success of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945–2026) and the National Day of Viet Nam (September 2, 1945–2026).

The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, in coordination with Vietnamese representative agencies and the Vietnamese community in the country, organised a pickleball competition in Vientiane on August 21 to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

The August Revolution of 1945 marked one of the greatest turning points in Viet Nam’s history. Under the wise leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the General Uprising won a resounding victory, not only ushering the country into a new era but also affirming a fundamental truth of our nation: unity is an invincible strength.

The August Revolution of 1945 was a great victory of the Vietnamese nation under the leadership of the Communist Party and leader Nguyen Ai Quoc-Ho Chi Minh. The August Revolution gave birth to the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam, opened a new chapter in the nation’s history, affirmed the triumph of patriotism and the aspiration for national independence, and strongly encouraged national liberation movements around the world.

The opportunity for the August Revolution matured in mid-August 1945. At that time, the anti-Japanese national salvation movement, launched by the Party after Japan's coup ousting the French from Viet Nam and Indochina on March 9, 1945, had reached its peak. The people refused to accept the harsh rule of Japanese fascists and their puppet administration and were eager to rise up to win independence and the right to live.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and President To Lam, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Commission, paid a working visit to Infantry Division 308 of Army Corps 12 under the Ministry of National Defence in Ha Noi on August 18.

During these historic August days, as the entire nation commemorates the 81st anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945–2026) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (September 2, 1945–2026), reflections from Gen Z youth about the nation’s traditions reveal a profound sense of national pride and patriotism among the younger generation.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela, in coordination with the Venezuela–Viet Nam Friendship House (CAVV) and the International University of Communications (UICOM), hosted a ceremony at the Venezuelan Workers’ Centre in Miranda State on August 17 (local time) to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945–2026) and Viet Nam’s National Day (September 2).

The August Revolution of 1945 stands as a historic milestone, recognised internationally as a remarkable example of seizing the opportune moment to assume power. From a people deprived of their country and subjected to colonial rule, the Vietnamese people emerged as masters of an independent and free nation.

Writing in the memorial book, Chairman Tran Thanh Man said he was deeply moved to visit the site, which witnessed the Nam Ky Uprising on November 23, 1940 and preserved important milestones in the long struggle of the army and people of the 18 hamlets of betel gardens.

The Vietnamese Embassy in China held a reception marking the 80th National Day of Viet Nam (September 2, 1945 – 2025), drawing a large number of Chinese senior officials, international friends, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the neighbouring country.

The national exhibition themed “80-Year Journey of Independence – Freedom – Happiness” wrapped up on September 15 at the National Exposition Centre in Dong Anh commune, Ha Noi.

Viet Nam’s struggle for independence has inspired many people, even those in the US, American social activist Juliet Ucelli said in an interview granted to Viet Nam News Agency correspondents in New York on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of Viet Nam (September 2).

The successful August Revolution on August 19, 1945 and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam on September 2, 1945 were a great turning point in its history, marking the beginning of a new era - the era of national independence linked with the freedom and happiness of the Vietnamese people, according to General Secretary of the Egyptian Communist Party Salah Adly.

A grand ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (September 2, 1945 – 2025) is being held at Ha Noi’s historic Ba Dinh Square on the morning of September 2.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed an official dispatch requiring the swift distribution of gifts to the people on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and his spouse are scheduled to pay a state visit to Viet Nam and attend the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the success of the August Revolution and the National Day of Viet Nam from August 31 to September 2.
