Organisers also convened a seminar themed “Viet Nam’s glorious 81-year revolutionary journey and vision for a new era of national rise”.

Delivering the opening remarks, Viet Nam studies scholar Dr Carolus Wimmer, President of the Venezuela–Viet Nam Friendship House, conveyed his warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam on the 81st anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2). He characterised the occasion as a glorious historic milestone and a great turning point that ushered Viet Nam into an era of independence, freedom, and socialism.

As a long-time researcher who has visited Viet Nam on numerous occasions, Dr Carolus Wimmer expressed profound admiration when evaluating the roots of the Vietnamese nation’s remarkable achievements. He emphasised that President Ho Chi Minh’s thought and the astute and visionary leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam have been decisive factors behind all victories throughout the Party’s glorious 96-year journey and the 81 years since President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam, now the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

Having personally witnessed Viet Nam’s outstanding achievements in the renewal process, which he reverently termed as “Viet Nam’s miracle”, Dr Carolus Wimmer asserted that, building on the indomitable spirit of a nation with a civilisation spanning thousands of years, the achievements of the 81-year journey since the founding of the Vietnamese state, the accomplishments of the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, and, particularly, the orientations set out by the 14th National Party Congress, Viet Nam, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam headed by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, will steadily advance into a “new era of national rise” and will undoubtedly achieve even greater accomplishments on its path towards socialism.

During the event, Venezuelan scholars and researchers expressed profound admiration for the Vietnamese people’s great revolutionary cause. In her presentation entitled “The Unbreakable Thread of Sacrifice and Solidarity”, researcher Joselym Baez underscored the epochal significance of the August Revolution of 1945, characterising it as an epic written through an indomitable struggle for independence and freedom.

Echoing this sentiment, Dr Anahis Lopez, Director of the Institute for Asia–Pacific Studies, and Dr Arianna Guerrero, Head of the Ho Chi Minh Thought Research Group at UICOM, underscored the profound significance of Ho Chi Minh Thought. Dr Anahis Lopez, in particular, offered an insightful perspective, asserting that Viet Nam was not only a shining beacon that illuminated the path for peoples in their struggles for national liberation and reunification in the past; today, the country continues to be a beacon and a powerful symbol inspiring the world through its robust development closely associated with social progress and justice.

Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Vu Trung My conveyed his profound gratitude for the steadfast solidarity, admiration, and respect that Venezuelan intellectuals and people have consistently shown towards President Ho Chi Minh, the Communist Party of Viet Nam, and the nation.

Reflecting on Viet Nam’s glorious 81-year journey since the autumn of 1945, Ambassador Vu Trung My emphasised that, under the visionary leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the country has achieved enormous, comprehensive, and historically significant accomplishments over 81 years of national construction and development, including 40 years of Doi Moi. From a small economy, Viet Nam has transformed into one of the most dynamic economies in the region and the world, while the people’s living standards have steadily improved and the country’s international standing and prestige have been increasingly consolidated.

Ambassador Vu Trung My affirmed that, building on these great achievements and fully embodying the spirit of the 14th National Party Congress, the entire Party, people, and armed forces of Viet Nam remain united in harnessing the country’s internal strengths towards the goal of building a peaceful, independent, democratic, strong, prosperous, civilised, and happy Viet Nam.
