The new service is expected to reduce traffic congestion at Vietnam’s two busiest airports during the Lunar New Year holiday.

ACV Deputy General Director Tran Anh Vu said the installation of equipment has been completed and the pilot period will last until March 7.

He added that the fees for parking at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat will remain unchanged.

It is estimated that there are about 16,000-20,000 cars passing through the toll gates of the two airports each day.

Previously drivers had to take tickets at the entrance and then pay cash at the exit, which was likely to cause congestion, especially during the peak travel periods.
