Taking place until November 29, the event is jointly held by the city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Association of Stage Artists, and the Ho Chi Minh City Stage Association.

It gathers the participation of 300 artists from 20 private and State-owned art troupes and theatres across the country.

The artists will bring to the stage shows ranging from 90 to 150 minutes in length featuring different topics.

In his opening speech, Tran The Thuan, Director of the HCMC Municipal Department of Culture and Sports, said that the festival aims to review the quality of stage activities, and create a venue for participating artists to exchange and develop their performing skills thus encouraging them to produce more high-quality stage plays.

Within the framework of the event, a photo exhibition is taking place in Lam Sơn Park in District 1 to introduce visitors to the operations, activities, and artists of the 20 art troupes attending the festival.
