The event was co-organised by the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) and the UN Women in Vietnam to praise Vietnamese women's contributions to the country's socio-economic development, and affirm Vietnam’s achievements in gender equality promotion and women empowerment over the 30 years of implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
Participants at the forum discussed solutions to enhance the roles of women and the younger generation in advancing gender equality progress in the nation's new era.
Speaking at the event, VWU President Nguyen Thi Tuyen affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State always eye gender equality as one of the major goals, and the issue has consistently been prioritised throughout the nation building and development process.
Over the past three decades, the country has stayed determined to realise the objectives of the Beijing Platform for Action, with positive results achieved in all 12 areas as outlined in the Platform.
Over the past 30 years, the VWU has always played a leading role in promoting gender equality and empowering women through the implementation of numerous programmes and activities at all levels. It has collaborated with UN Women in Vietnam to develop and implement various programmes and activities, making significant contributions to the achievements in these aspects, she added.
