The project will use non-refundable Official Development Assistance (ODA) from German Government.

With a total investment of nearly US$2.47 million, it will be carried out by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment around the country from 2018 to 2022.

The project aims to ensure the exploitation and use of groundwater in an efficient and sustainable manner in the context of climate change as well as to avoid water level decrease, saltwater intrusion and depression in Mekong Delta coastal provinces.

It will also help strengthen water resource management capacity in the localities, while supplementing and building a database on groundwater in areas under the project.

In addition, the project will contribute to raising public awareness of groundwater and boosting the coordination among relevant agencies, managers and water users as well as enhancing the investigation, assessment, protection and management of agencies involved in the project.
