Under the theme ‘Cinema – Integration and Sustainable Development’, this year’s festival will introduce the cinema works, which will be screened for the first time from November 1, 2016 to July 1, 2018, unprecedented at other international film festivals in Asia.
According to Head of the Vietnam Cinema Department, Ngo Phuong Lan, who is head of the organising committee of the HANIFF 2018, the festival aims to honour outstanding cinematographic works with high artistic value, rich humanity and creativeness; encourage new talents in cinema; and promote the spirit of compassion and cooperation for the development of cinema. In addition, it will also introduce the unique cinematic works of the world to the public.
As part of the festival, a series of activities, such as a HANIFF camp, a film project market, a seminar on Polish Cinema and the International Experiences of Iranian Cinema, will be organised.
Furthermore, this year’s festival, for the first time, will feature a programme of outdoor film screenings and a fashion show, from October 28 to 30.
The festival is organised by the Vietnam Cinema Department, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hanoi municipal Department of Culture and Sports.
