Hanoi T&T thrash Hoang Anh Gia Lai 4-1

Nhan Dan – V-League defending champion Hanoi T&T has scored a second win of the 2014 season after crushing hosts Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) at Pleiku stadium on January 17.

HAGL dominated the first few minutes, putting the visitors on edge when an attack co-ordinated by Tran Vu, Timothy and Sakda nearly converted into a goal.

The match balanced out after around 10 minutes with the two teams exchanging shots towards the other’s goal.

In the 25th minute, Van Quyet put Hanoi T&T ahead after his skilful kick defeated HAGL’s goalkeeper Bassey.

The visitors extended the lead to 2-0 in the 57th minute when striker Samson headed the ball into Bassey’s net.

HAGL pulled a goal back 15 minutes later from a penalty kick awarded to Timothy after he was fouled by Sam Gallagher in Hanoi T&T’s penalty area.

In the remaining time of the match, Samson and Van Quyet each scored one more goal to end the game 4-1, bringing the second victory for Hanoi T&T of the 2014 V-League season.

In another match, Than Quang Ninh, promoted to the professional football league for the first time, surprised all when beating Ninh Binh 3-1 despite being outclassed in the first half.

The second round of V-League 2014 will continue with two matches Dong Tam Long An vs Vicem Hai Phong and Thanh Hoa vs SHB Da Nang on January 18.
