These are key activities under a project approved by the Prime Minister to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Viet Nam People’s Public Security and the 20th All People's Security Safeguard Festival.

Speaking at the press conference, Major General Pham Kim Dinh, Director of the Political Work Department, Ministry of Public Security, stated that this year’s game will be the largest ever, with the most sporting disciplines and diverse content, combining physical training with effective service for operational work. For many disciplines, due to the large number of registered athletes, preliminary and qualifying rounds have been organised in multiple regions.

According to the plan, the game and competition will span one year, held across five localities: Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Lam Dong, and Phu Tho. The official opening ceremony of this event series is scheduled for 8:10 p.m., on July 26, 2025, at My Dinh National Stadium, Ha Noi.

The “For the Security of the Fatherland” Sports Game and the People’s Public Security Drill, Military, and Martial Arts Competition are the largest professional–sports events within the People’s Public Security force, held regularly to enhance the physical fitness, resilience, and fighting spirit of officers and soldiers. At the same time, they aim to widely promote within the force and among the people the 80-year tradition of building, fighting, and maturing of the Viet Nam People’s Public Security. The activities are expected to encourage the emulation movement “For the Security of the Fatherland”, showcasing the strength, discipline, and elite nature of the public security force in the new era.

Beyond their promotional and educational significance, the Game and Competition also serve as an opportunity for the Ministry of Public Security to assess the state of sports and physical training in the People’s Public Security force for the 2020–2025 period. Additionally, the competition results will reflect the quality of drill, military, and martial arts training across the sector, providing a basis for adjusting and refining training content and methods in the future.

Participants in the Game include officers, non-commissioned officers, students of People’s Public Security academies (excluding civilian programmes), public security workers, salaried employees funded by the state budget, and individual members of the Viet Nam People’s Public Security Sports Association. Meanwhile, the Drill, Military, and Martial Arts Competition is open to officers, non-commissioned officers and conscripts, as well as students from the People’s Public Security academies.

The Game will feature 115 competition events across 10 disciplines, including: 8 applied running events, 22 applied swimming events, 10 strong police officer events, 4 firefighting and rescue professional sports events, 7-a-side men’s football, men’s volleyball, 15 badminton events, 18 table tennis events, 12 tennis events, and 24 chess events.

Meanwhile, the People’s Public Security Drill, Military, and Martial Arts Competition will include 18 events divided into three main groups: 4 drill events (theory and practice), 4 martial arts events, and 10 military events. These aim to test the officers’ and soldiers’ drill execution, combat skills, and overall physical fitness under training conditions that closely simulate real-life combat and security operations.

One notable highlight is the finals of the 7-a-side men’s football, table tennis, badminton, and chess events, to be held in Ha Noi from July 24 to August 1, 2025, with around 2,000 participants from units nationwide.

The concurrent organisation of the Game and the Drill, Military, and Martial Arts Competition demonstrates the Ministry of Public Security’s commitment to the comprehensive development of its officers and soldiers, not only in professional expertise but also in physical fitness, mental resilience, and combat readiness. This affirms the determination to build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern People’s Public Security force, meeting the demands of safeguarding national security and social order in the new context.
