Ho Chi Minh City Festival opens

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee organised the Ho Chi Minh City Festival and activities honouring the role of family in city social life, at Nguyen Hue Walking Street, District 1, on the evening of June 28.

The event aims to celebrate the 326th anniversary of Sai Gon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh – Ho Chi Minh City (1698-2024) and 48 years since Sai Gon - Gia Dinh was officially named after President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976 - 2024), will take place in five days, from June 28 to July 2.

This is one of the events aimed at reviewing the nation's heroic traditions, introducing to residents and tourists the achievements in the construction and development of Ho Chi Minh City, and protecting the peace and happiness of the city's people.

The event also demonstrates the city’s cooperation in building new-style rural areas, preserving cultural identity, and honouring the role of the family in social life, in celebration of Vietnamese Family Day (June 28), with the care of all levels and branches of the city in helping people to enjoy the best values, both materially and spiritually.

After the opening programme, the art programme commends typical happy and cultural families celebrating Vietnamese Family Day (June 28), with the theme "Happy Family - Prosperous Nation", which took place at Nguyen Hue Walking Street.

The programme is organised by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the city's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Women's Union, the Labour Confederation, and the city's Youth Union.

At the programme, 114 typical happy and cultured families were honoured.

Speaking at the program, Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that Vietnamese Family Day has become a day to remember, promoting traditions and family. This awakens each person to deeper reflection and more practical action to build a prosperous, progressive, happy and civilised Vietnamese family, as the foundation for building a happy community and a prosperous and happy nation, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City with a good quality of life, civilisation, modernity, and love.
