During the reception, Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc highly appreciated and expressed gratitude for Natsume Nagato’s contributions in strengthening relations between Japanese localities and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, as well as between Japan and Vietnam in general.
He agreed to support new projects initiated by Honourary Consul Natsume Nagato and urged relevant city agencies to facilitate their implementation. He affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City is always open to welcoming Japanese businesses to invest and requested that the Honourary Consul continue to serve as a bridge to attract more Japanese enterprises to the city.
According to Natsume Nagato, Aichi Prefecture currently has 70,000 Vietnamese students and workers, making it an important link in strengthening relations with Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam as a whole.
Expressing his gratitude for the city’s support in launching a Japanese-standard maternal dental clinic at Tu Du Hospital, Natsume Nagato shared that Nagoya City will soon approve two new projects on recovering precious metals from medical waste at public hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, and preventing medical incidents through an ODA-funded project from the Japanese government.
On the same afternoon, Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc also met with Kwon Choon Ki, General Director of Samsung CE Complex Ho Chi Minh City (Samsung SEHC).
Currently, Samsung Vietnam operates six manufacturing plants and one research centre in the country. Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc commended Samsung Vietnam's contributions, particularly the Samsung SEHC factory in the city's High-Tech Park, which has steadily increased exports, contributing to Ho Chi Minh City's economic growth.
He encouraged Samsung Vietnam to establish an artificial intelligence (AI) centre in Ho Chi Minh City and facilitate technology transfers to the city.
The city’s leaders are committed to resolving Samsung's challenges, emphasising that the success of businesses is also the success of the city, he added.
Samsung Vietnam recorded a total revenue of 62.5 billion USD in 2024, including 54.5 billion USD in exports, accounting for 14% of Vietnam's total export value. The company's cumulative investment in Vietnam has now reached 23.2 billion USD.
Kwon Choon Ki reaffirmed Samsung Vietnam's commitment to investing in high technology and human resource training, pledging to further contribute to Vietnam's economic development.
