Ho Chi Minh City tops national youth traditional martial arts championship

Nhan Dan - With 14 gold, four silver and two bronze medals, the Ho Chi Minh City team came out on top at the 2011 National Youth Traditional Martial Arts Championship which wrapped up in Can Tho on June 23.

Binh Dinh ranked second with six gold, five silver and three bronze medals, followed by the Police team with five gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

The tournament, held jointly by the National Sports Administration and the Can Tho Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, attracted nearly 300 young martial artists from 30 teams across the country, who competed in both demonstration and combat events.

The championship was considered a good way to promote the traditional martial arts among young people and to select outstanding athletes to prepare for important national and international competitions.
