The 9th Global Conference for Young Parliamentarians, themed “the role of young people in accelerating sustainable development goals by digital transformation and innovation”, officially opened at a ceremony held in Hanoi on September 15.

The opening ceremony was attended by many international delegates, including President of the IPU Duarte Pacheco, IPU Secretary-General Martin Chungong, President of the IPU Board of the Forum of Young Parliamentarians Dan Carden, and President of the Bureau of Women Parliamentarians Cynthia Lopez Castro.

On the Vietnamese side, the ceremony drew the participation of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; Politburo member, permanent member of the Secretary and Head of the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Commission for Organisation Truong Thi Mai; NA Standing Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man, among others.

The 9th Global Conference for Young Parliamentarians features the participation of more than 500 young parliamentarians and delegates from IPU member parliaments, Ambassadors and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions and international organisations in Vietnam.
