The bronze monument, 15.5 metres tall, is the only of its kind in Vietnam featuring Uncle Ho and his father together. The monument recalls the historic farewell between Uncle Ho and his father in Binh Dinh province before he headed to the southern region and went abroad in search of a way to salvage the nation.
A 76-metre long mural painting was installed behind the monument, recalling significant milestones of the President’s journey for national salvation.
The monument was built to represent the sentiments of Binh Dinh provincial authorities and people towards President Ho, marking it a tourist highlight for visitors to the locality.
In celebration of Uncle Ho’s 127th birth anniversary, an arts programme was held on May 18 in Vinh city, bringing together 300 artists from nine cities and provinces across the country. Songs and dances at the programme praised the Party and Uncle Ho, the country’s revolutionary tradition as well as the achievements of the national reform process.
Yesterday morning a delegation from the Thua Thien – Hue provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, People’s Council and Fatherland Front Committee led by Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Truong Luu paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh museum in Hue. The delegates offered flowers and observed a solemn one-minute silence in memory of the President.
An exhibition opened the same day at the museum, showcasing 120 photos, objects and documents on the life and revolutionary career of President Ho.
