The programme targets raising 160 billion VND, including 50 million VND funded by the MB through green financial actions and outreach activities, to plant one million trees in Truong Sa Island District in Khanh Hoa Province.

The programme is expected to have a comprehensive impact on the ecosystem in the island district, as the trees will help stabilise sand, prevent erosion, stop sand drift, and protect infrastructure on the island.

The green cover will also create a habitat for many species, contributing to the restoration and development of the ecosystem and maintaining natural balance.

Rows of trees will act as green shields to protect the island from wind and storms, minimising damage from natural disasters. Green trees provide shade, reduce temperatures, create conditions for agricultural production, and improve the quality of life for military personnel and islanders.

Colonel Luu Trung Thai, Chairman of the MB’s Board of Directors stated that each green tree planted under the programme is a gift from the mainlanders to the islanders.

He called for donations from individuals and organisations nationwide and partners at home and abroad to realise the goal of planting one million trees in Truong Sa Island District.
