The event was held to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the liberation day of Khanh Hoa (Arpril 2, 1975 – 2016).

Bang Vuong, or ‘Barringtonia Asiatica’, is a rare tree species listed in the Vietnam Red Book. Growing in mangrove forests or on islands, Bang Vuong is native to the Truong Sa Island District. As it is a tree that can withstand severe weather and the harshest storms, the tree also symbolises the hardiness and determination of Vietnamese citizens and soldiers.

Designed by painters Nguyen Du and Do Lenh Tuan of the Vietnam Post, the set includes two stamps measuring 43 x 32 millimetres, and one bloc measuring 150 x 90 millimetres.

Immediately after the ceremony, 1,300 stamp sets were delivered to Truong Sa Island District, Khanh Hoa province.
