Phuong applauded the strong coordination among the Election Committee, the People’s Council, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Quang Tri and relevant agencies, noting that preparations have been carried out in a synchronised and regulation-compliant manner. He also highlighted effective communication and outreach efforts that have helped foster a positive public atmosphere ahead of the elections.
He noted that the 2021–2026 term has been shortened, with the next elections scheduled for March 15, 2026, about two months earlier than previous elections. This will require an accelerated implementation timeline, particularly in the periods following the 14th National Party Congress and leading up to the first sessions of the newly elected bodies. As the elections will be held amid administrative streamlining, the reorganisation of central agencies, and the merger of provincial-level administrative units under a two-tier local government model, he stressed the need to strengthen training and capacity-building for election officials.
The legislator asked Quang Tri to continue implementing all steps in line with legal regulations, including establishing election teams within the timeframe prescribed in the election law, and organising the 2nd and 3rd consultative conferences to finalise the lists of candidates no later than February 20, 2026.
He also noted the need to prevent individuals with disruptive intentions from entering the candidate lists. Authorities should review and update the voter list to protect the rights of all citizens, including those far from home, the elderly, and people with disabilities. The voter list must be posted by February 3, 2026, and the candidates’ list with brief biographies published by February 27, 2026.
Citizens’ opinions and petitions, especially complaints related to candidates, must be addressed promptly in accordance with regulations, he stressed.
Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Hoang Nam said the locality has thoroughly implemented the Party’s documents and legal regulations on elections; and issued plans, guidance, and instructions to localities.
Following the 1st consultative conference, Quang Tri province agreed on the list of 10 candidates for the 16th NA, and 62 others for the 9th provincial People’s Council in 2026–2031.
