NASC approves draft resolution on environmental protection tax rates on gasoline, oil and lubricants

The National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) held a meeting in Hanoi on December 30 to consider and approve draft resolution on environmental protection tax rates on gasoline, oil and lubricants to be applied in 2023.

After reviewing the Government's report, the inspection report of the Finance and Budget Committee, the NASC agreed on the need to continue reducing the environmental protection tax rates on gasoline, oil and lubricants in 2023 to continue contributing to stabilising the macro-economy, supporting the production and business activities of enterprises and the daily life of the people.

The NASC agreed to adjust the environmental protection tax rate for gasoline, oil and grease according to the plan proposed by the Finance and Budget Committee.

The tax rate will be applied from January 1, 2023 to the end of December 31, 2023. The environmental environmental protection tax rates on gasoline, oil and lubricants from January 1, 2024 shall comply with the provisions of Resolution No. 579/2018/UBTVQH14 dated September 26, 2018 of the NASC on the environmental protection tax.

Under the draft, the tax rates for gasoline will be 2,000 VND/litre; fuel and , 1,000 VND/litre; diesel, fuel oil, and lubricant, 1,000 VND/liter; and kerosene, 600VND/litre.
