The event was held jointly by the Tien Giang Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, the Vietnam Sports Administration, and the Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association.
The tournament has attracted the participation of 250 coaches and athletes from 21 provinces, cities and sectors across the country.
According to the organising board, the athletes will compete for a total of 60 sets of medals at the tournament, including 36 sets of medals for swimming and 24 sets of medals for diving.
The tournament is scheduled to run until October 27.
