Nearly 4,000 tonnes of Bac Giang’s early maturing lychee exported to demanding markets

The northern province of Bac Giang has exported more than 13,400 tonnes of early maturing lychee this season, including 4,000 tonnes shipped to demanding markets such as Japan and the EU.

According to Bac Giang Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the province harvested more than 13,400 tonnes of lychee by the end of June 5. Nearly 4,000 tonnes of lychee (accounting for 29% of the total volume) have been exported to China, Cambodia, Japan, the EU, and others.

Each day an average of 50 trucks carry Bac Giang lychee to the Tan Thanh border gate in Lang Son province to ship to China.

The province has over 6,700 ha of early maturing lychee which will be harvested from late May to June 15 with an estimated output of 55,000 tonnes.

The average price of early maturing lychee ranges from VND22,000 to over 30,000 VND per kg.

Meanwhile, the main area of lychee is over 21,500 ha which will be harvested from June 15 to July 25 with an estimated output of about 135,000 tonnes.
