Nhan Dan – A new 110Kv power line and two electrical substations have been put into service between Ha Giang and Yen Minh, helping the distribution of electricity generated by power plants in the northern province of Ha Giang.

The 110 kV transmission line and the 110 kV Yen Minh substation were completed at a cost of VND216.8 billion (US$10.4 million), while the 220 kV Ha Giang substation totalled VND108 billion (US$5.2 million).

The Ha Giang substation is equipped with a 125,000 kVA transformer and the Yen Minh substation is designed to accommodate two 25,000 kVA transformers, one of which has been installed.

The transmission line, at just under 80km long is designed to provide a stable flow of electricity to Ha Giang city, Vi Xuyen, Quan Ba and Yen Minh districts, so reducing interruptions to supply and also help to reduce the amount of electricity purchased from China.

This new transmission line will contribute an estimated VND30-35 billion (US$1.44-1.68 million) annually to the provincial budget and create jobs for thousands of local residents.

Currently there are 32 small and medium sized hydro-electric projects in Ha Giang province with a combined capacity of 523.8 megawatts.
