The total cost of the project was 2.1 trillion VND (82.5 million USD), financed by the Asian Development Bank and the Vietnamese Government’s counterpart funding.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Duy Lam said the new road will help ease congestion and reduce road accidents while ensuring smooth traffic on National Highway 91 through Long Xuyen City.

The project includes 15.3 kilometres of new road construction and 2 kilometres of upgraded road on National Highway 80.

The road features four lanes and allows for a maximum speed of 80 kilometres per hour.

The project is expected to provide a boost to socio-economic development in An Giang Province and the wider southwestern region, and will reduce the travel time from Chau Doc to Vam Cong Bridge to just one hour.
