The ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Thailand will be jointly organised by Nghe An Province and the Central Committee of the Viet Nam–Thailand Friendship Association. The provincial-level event is expected to take place on August 10.
As part of the commemorative programme, the organisers will display photographs and documents highlighting the 50-year establishment and development of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Thailand, as well as major cooperation achievements between Nghe An and Thai localities and partners. The exhibition will also introduce Nghe An's people, culture, cooperation potential, investment, trade and tourism opportunities, and showcase notable investment projects by Thai enterprises in the province.
The Viet Nam–Thailand Strategic Partnership was established in 2013 and officially upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025. By establishing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the two countries committed to further strengthening cooperation across all fields on the basis of respect for international law, as well as each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, shared interests and political systems.
Viet Nam and Thailand have developed robust trade and investment cooperation. In 2025, bilateral trade reached approximately 22.1 billion USD. Thailand remains a major investor in Viet Nam, with hundreds of valid investment projects and total registered capital of around 14.9–15.4 billion USD.
