Nha Trang eyed to become economic, sci-tech, educational, training, and medical centre

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has signed a decision approving a project on the adjustment of Nha Trang City's general planning by 2040.

Under the planning, Nha Trang is envisaged to become an economic, sci-tech, educational, training, and medical centre of the South Central Coastal and Central Highlands regions.

It will be developed as a political, economic, cultural, scientific, and technical administrative centre of Khanh Hoa Province and a hub of trade-finance and tourist seaport services of the South Central region.

The planning also stressed that Nha Trang City plays an important role and position in security, national defence, and marine environmental protection.

Accordingly, the planning covers has a total natural land area of about 26,736 hectares with population being projected to reach about 630,000-640,000 by 2030, and around 750,000-780,000 by 2040.

Regarding its development strategy, it will focus on environmental protection and climate change adaptation, the conservation and promotion of natural heritage values and smart city development, with tourism as the main economic sector.
