The festival took place on the outskirts of Lisbon from September 5 to 7. Vietnamese Ambassador to Portugal Nguyen Manh Thang also joined the delegation’s activities.

At a meeting with Paulo Raimundo, General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh noted that 2025 marks a particularly significant milestone for Viet Nam, with numerous major anniversaries, including the 80th anniversary of the founding of the nation and the 50th anniversary of national reunification.

This is an occasion for Viet Nam to reflect on its heroic journey of nation-building and defence, while affirming its resolve to work towards a bright future.

Since September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh delivered the Declaration of Independence, the Vietnamese people have overcome countless difficulties and challenges and are now firmly advancing towards modernisation and deeper integration.

Having secured great victories in the protracted struggles against colonialism and imperialism to win independence, freedom, and national reunification, the Vietnamese people always remember the noble international solidarity and wholehearted support of international friends, including the Portuguese communists.

Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh shared Viet Nam’s aspiration to pursue peace, prosperity, sustainability, and development in the years ahead. This lofty goal was reaffirmed by General Secretary To Lam at the grand ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of August Revolution and National Day, stating that by 2045, on the centenary of the nation’s founding, Viet Nam aims to be a strong, prosperous, and happy country.

Congratulating the Vietnamese people on their tremendous achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, Paulo Raimundo emphasised that 2025 carries special significance for Viet Nam as well as for international friends. Viet Nam has always stood as a shining example of resilience and determination, asserting the stature of a courageous and creative nation, ready to conquer new heights.

He highly valued Viet Nam’s presence at each Avante Press Festival, describing it as vital in showcasing outstanding achievements and contributing to the strengthening of international solidarity. He expressed confidence that Viet Nam would advance firmly into a new era of development.

On the same day, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh attended and delivered remarks at a seminar on the history of Viet Nam since reunification in 1975.
