Nhan Dan Newspaper introduces special coverage on Dien Bien Phu Victory

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - 2024), Nhan Dan Newspaper introduced a special coverage on Dien Bien Phu Victory on publications and platforms of Nhan Dan Newspaper on March 21.

The event was attended by Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC Commission for Communication and Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association Le Quoc Minh,; Member of the PCC, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Sen. Lieut. Gen. Trinh Van Quyet; and Member of the PCC, Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong.

In particular, the event also had the presence of two historical witnesses: Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy, Hero of the Armed Forces, former combat officer of the General Staff of the Dien Bien Phu campaign and Major General Nguyen Tu, Hero of the Armed Forces, former officer of the military medical department of Group 316; the group that attacked the east wing of Hill A1. These are two of the three remaining generals who were Dien Bien soldiers in the past.

Speaking at the event, the Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Le Quoc Minh, said that the entire apparatus of Nhan Dan Newspaper participated in this special coverage.

According to the Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Le Quoc Minh, this is the largest, most comprehensive, diversified and longest period of information in the press about the Dien Bien Phu Victory, made by Party journalists.

After many months of elaborate preparation, starting from March 13, 2024, Nhan Dan Newspaper launched a product on the internet with an unprecedented approach - the special page on the Dien Bien Phu Victory (at address https://dienbienphu.nhandan.vn), with an important highlight of the Campaign Progress Diary for 56 days and nights, from the opening battle on March 13, 1954, to the victorious ending date on May 7, 1954.

The diary includes all daily developments at the Dien Bien Phu front and on other fronts and localities related to the Dien Bien Phu campaign, including the fight on the diplomatic front and international public opinion about the battle at Dien Bien Phu.

In addition, in parallel with the online newspaper, in other publications such as Nhan Dan Daily, Nhan Dan Weekend, Nhan Dan Monthly, Thoi Nay, and Nhan Dan TV Channel, there will be reports, comments, and news, analysis, interviews with historical witnesses, introduction of articles, literary and artistic works about Dien Bien Phu, with a very new and interesting overview.
