Through the campaign of composing and promoting the songs, Music Month is expected to inspire and promote patriotism, revolutionary heroism, and the will to fight and win during the cause of national construction and defence.

The event also aims to pay tribute to and honour the soldiers and people who sacrificed their lives and made great contributions to the glorious victory of the revolution as well as the efforts to make the nation more beautiful and prosperous.

Accordingly, the artworks submitted to Music Month should demonstrate the great historical value and profound significance of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory; and the heroic spirit, creative ingenuity, intellectual bravery, and the will of Vietnamese army and people.

The works should also highlight the shining examples of soldiers, youth volunteers, frontline workers, and people from all walks of life who served in the Dien Bien Phu campaign; as well as honour the socio-economic, defence-security, and cultural achievements gained by the people in Northwestern region, especially in Dien Bien Province, over the past 70 years.

The works submitted to the contest must be songs based on musical styles that are legally circulating in Vietnam and have not been published and won prizes in any competitions.

Each professional and amateur musician is allowed to send no more than two songs to the Vietnam Musicians’ Association’s headquarter at 43 Nguyen Hong Street, Thanh Cong Ward, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi; or to email address: congtachoivien@gmail.com.

The deadline for the submissions is April 24, 2024. The organising committee will post the songs that are selected for the final rounds on the TikTok platform from April 25 to May 15.

The awards ceremony is expected to take place on the occasion of the 134th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19) in Dien Bien Phu City. The organising committee will present one first prize (worth 100 million VND), two second prizes (worth 50 million VND each), four third prizes (worth 20 million VND each), eight consolation prizes (worth 10 million each), and a number of other thematic prizes to the most outstanding works.
