Noi Bai ready with resources for National Day peak period

Noi Bai International Airport announced on August 13 that it expects to handle a peak period of flight operations with a sharp increase in passenger traffic and complex flight activities during the major holiday commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

Noi Bai International Airport chaired a coordination conference with the participation of units in the aviation sector to develop a flexible operational plan for this period.

To ensure absolute flight safety during these historic days for the country, Noi Bai International Airport chaired the conference with participation from the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam, Northern Airports Authority, Northern Air Traffic Management Company, Air Traffic Flow Management Centre, domestic and international airlines, and ground service units. The goal was to design flexible operational plans suitable for the occasion.

According to forecasts, operational output during the holiday will see a dramatic surge. In particular, international passenger numbers are at peak growth, with some days expected to reach nearly 44,000 passengers – the highest ever recorded.

This increase stems from large delegations of international visitors arriving in Ha Noi for the Grand Celebration, alongside the strong expansion of international routes launched at Noi Bai International Airport in recent times.

Meanwhile, domestic passenger flows are also forecast to rise sharply as tens of thousands from across the country travel to the capital to attend major cultural and artistic events organised for the occasion. On the busiest day, Noi Bai International Airport is estimated to serve nearly 110,000 passengers and 638 flights, up about 20% compared to the same period in 2024.

To ensure the success of the Grand Celebration, and to meet the needs of international delegations and people nationwide coming to Ha Noi, units have reached a high consensus on close coordination, proactively anticipating possible scenarios and implementing timely response measures.

During the holiday, flight activities at Noi Bai International Airport will be bustling, with various flight procedures in operation.

According to representatives of the Northern Air Traffic Management Company, the unit has long coordinated closely with relevant agencies to devise the most optimal plan for civil aviation operations. Any changes or adjustments during this period are considered with the aim of minimising impacts on commercial flight operations at Noi Bai International Airport.

On the part of airlines and service providers, units have agreed to maintain 24/7 duty shifts at the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) at Noi Bai to promptly handle all situations; to proactively relocate overnight aircraft parking to neighbouring airports to reduce pressure and prioritise parking positions for incoming international flights during the Grand Celebration; and to proactively refuel flights bound for Noi Bai, ready for contingencies such as holding patterns due to operational or weather-related reasons.
