The event, jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Olympic Committee, was among practical activities to celebrate Vietnamese Sports Day (March 27) and mark the 71st anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s appeal for mass participation in sporting activities (March 27, 1946-2017).

The Olympic Day Run aims to promote the value of President Ho Chi Minh’s thought on sports and physical training, as well as to communicate the international Olympic ideal on solidarity and friendship, and raise public awareness on the importance of physical exercise for people’s general health.

Localities in all 63 provinces and cities across the country are expected to respond to the 2017 Olympic Run Day at the same time as in Thua Thien - Hue with the participation of over seven million people.
