Among the participants, more than 65 per cent came from provinces and cities outside of Da Nang or foreign countries.
Accordingly, the event consisted of five categories: full marathon 42km, half marathon 21km, 10km, 5km, and Ronny Dash 1km (open for kids and families).
The athletes started from the Bien Dong Park, running along Da Nang’s famous streets including Vo Nguyen Giap, Nguyen Van Thoai, Bach Dang, Nhu Nguyet, Le Duc Tho, Hoang Sa, and Le Van Luong, as well as over Tran Thi Ly and Thuan Phuoc bridges.
The Da Nang International Marathon is considered one of the biggest marathon events of the year, with the first international standard running track in Vietnam, being recognised by the International Marathon Association (AIMS).
Over the past eight years, the competition has attracted a total of more than 9,000 international athletes from more than 65 countries and territories.
In addition to attracting several tourists to the central city, the event created a playground helping to promote the development of the sports movement in Da Nang city.
