The Hanoi Trade Union currently has a membership of more than 600,000, according to its chair Bui Huyen Mai.

She stated that in the past several months, the union and its chapters have worked with enterprises to maintain jobs and incomes for workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The union also worked to provide benefits to those who lost their jobs or had their jobs suspended due to the virus.

Mai added that the union spent more than VND50 billion on buying 95,000 bus tickets home and 75,000 presents for disadvantaged workers during this year’s Tet holiday.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong spoke highly of the Hanoi Trade Union’s efforts in taking care of workers’ lives.

She urged the union to have a good grasp of the situation of workers and address their proposals in a timely manner in order to ensure they have stable employment and income.
