Meetings held to tribute soldiers serving Dien Bien Phu Campaign

On May 4, the Hanoi municipal authorities held a meeting with veteran soldiers, young volunteers and frontline workers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in 1954.

Delegates at the event reviewed the historical developments and significance of the globe-shaking Dien Bien Phu Victory.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung expressed his gratitude for the veteran soldiers, stressing that their contributions are appreciated by the whole country and are forever a shining symbol of patriotism, revolutionary heroism, and the pride of the Party, government, soldiers, and people of the capital.

A similar meeting was also organised in Muong Ang District, Dien Bien Province, gathering 13 soldiers who fought in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, and families of fallen soldiers who laid down their lives during the campaign and the national resistance war against the French.

Addressing the event, Secretary of the district Party Committee Nguyen Tien Dat emphasised that the nation will never forget the services of those who braved all sacrifice and hardship to achieve the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954-2024), a delegation of Dong Nai provincial leaders led by Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh visited and presented gifts to war veterans, young volunteers, and frontline workers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign who are currently living in Long Thanh District.

The former soldiers included 95-year-old Ngo The Nganm, 89-year-old Nguyen Duy Nguyt, and 89-year-old Hoang Thi Dai.

During the visit, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh expressed his deep gratitude to the elders who made great contributions to the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu exactly 70 years ago.
