Under the plan to meet travel demand during the holiday, transport operators in Ha Noi are required to develop transport plans suited to actual demand, ensuring that vehicles operate according to schedules and meet passengers’ needs.
Operators must comply with regulations on passenger transport and must not arbitrarily cancel trips or services to use vehicles for unlawful contract transport. Inspections and handling of violations will be strengthened, particularly violations of regulations on transport business conditions, vehicle technical safety, and unlawful passenger pick-up and drop-off.
At the bus stations, additional vehicles will be deployed to help prevent passenger congestion during peak days. Ha Noi Bus Station Joint Stock Company plans to arrange around 500 additional coaches at Giap Bat, My Dinh, and Gia Lam bus stations.
According to Tran Manh Ha, Deputy Director of Giap Bat Bus Station, the number of passengers is expected to rise sharply from the afternoon of August 28 and on August 29. The station has prepared plans for staffing and vehicles to serve passengers, with around 200 additional services needed; on peak days, the number of additional services could exceed 100 per day.
In addition to arranging vehicles, Giap Bat Bus Station will strengthen inspections of vehicles and drivers and coordinate with traffic police, the Ha Noi Public Security Department, and Hoang Mai Ward Public Security to ensure security, order, and traffic safety in the station area.
Transport companies are also proactively preparing vehicles and increasing services on several routes with high travel demand. Le Van Thuong, a driver for Tuan Yen, which operates the Ha Noi–Thanh Hoa route, said the company had prepared plans to increase services to serve passengers during the holiday while complying with transport safety requirements.
A representative of Sao Viet, which operates the Ha Noi–Lao Cai–Sa Pa route, said the company expected passenger numbers to increase during the holiday and had prepared plans to add services. The operator said it would continue to comply with regulations on permitted passenger capacity and fares.
According to Ha Noi Bus Station Joint Stock Company, as of August 25, major bus stations in the city had not received any requests from transport operators to increase fares during the holiday.
Alongside increasing vehicle capacity, bus stations have been asked to proactively organise traffic flows and regulate vehicles and passengers to limit congestion inside and outside the stations. The authorities will strengthen inspections and handle violations, contributing to safe and smooth passenger transport operations during peak days.
