The two leaders and their spouses enjoyed traditional music performances from both nations, saying that they were meeting not only as representatives of their nations, but also through shared cultural values and subtle, familiar traditions.

Both sides expressed confidence that profound cultural affinity, mutual understanding and respect form a solid foundation for stronger bonds between the Vietnamese and Korean people. Shared visions and aspirations for national development were also cited as unifying factors. The tea party, serving as a personal farewell, deepened the rapport between the leaders.

The visit marks the General Secretary’s first state visit to the RoK in his new role. The RoK’s invitation to him as the first “state guest” under its new administration signals the high priority it places on the relationship with Viet Nam and its Party chief personally.
