Party General Secretary Trong, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Commission, praised the achievements of women in the army in recent years while conveying his best wishes and good health to the nearly 100,000 women working in the force.
The Party chief stressed that the army’s females have united and strived to complete the tasks entrusted to them by the Party, State and Army, saying that without their emulation movements, the army would not fulfil its tasks. Through such movements, the army’s females have increasingly developed and gained experience, he added.
Party General Secretary Trong urged army women to further their tasks in the time to come, asking female-operated units in the army to develop specific activities and appropriate working programmes suited to each unit’s working conditions for female soldiers.
In each field and each locale, army women should perform their tasks better while promoting the good nature of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and upholding the heroic tradition of the People’s Army of Vietnam.
The leader also proposed that they continue to fulfil their assigned work in parallel with taking care of their families. This was a doubly heavy responsibility but also a double honour, he affirmed.
At the meeting, participants reported to the Party leader the results of the implementation of their emulation movements over the past five years, as well as plans for their future tasks.
A range of models, movements and activities by them have been proved effective, such as the movements of army women following Uncle Ho’s teachings, practicing thrift and helping each other towards sustainable poverty reduction. With such positive results, seven collectives and six individuals received Vietnam Women Awards, Women Innovative Awards and KOVA Awards.
Currently, army women include nineteen professors and more than 1,300 doctors, masters, People’s Doctor and People’s Artists.
★ Later the same day in Hanoi, the female military organised an art exchange programme with the theme “Flowers of Feats” to welcome the sixth Army Women’s Congress for 2016-2021.
The event was elaborately staged with revolutionary songs and reports praising Vietnam and its women, as well as military women over time.
