Phu Yen launches Tet tree planting festival

The south-central coastal province of Phu Yen officially launched the Lunar New Year (Tet) tree planting festival, themed “Forever grateful to Uncle Ho”, on February 1.

At the launching ceremony, Chairman of Phu Yen Provincial People’s Committee Ta Anh Tuan called on all departments, agencies, localities and people around the province to enthusiastically plant trees.

He asked the units and localities to focus on strengthening the management of the quality of plant varieties and select suitable trees as well as raise public awareness of protecting and developing forests and preventing and fighting against forest fires.

The provincial leader also stressed the importance of the scientific and technological application into sustainable forest development.

This year's tree planting festival in Phu Yen province aims to respond to the movement of planting 1 billion trees for the 2021-2025 period launched by the Prime Minister as well as continue to implement the project of planting 15 million green trees during 2021-2025 period in the province.

Also on the same day, the Youth Union of Da Nang City launched the Tet tree planting festival.

At the event, the city union granted 30,000 acacia seedlings to support youths in Hoa Vang district to develop economy and 35,000 green trees in different types to youth unions in seven districts.
