Hanoi deploys 22 checkpoints at city entrances to control COVID-19

The Hanoi Police Department, on July 14, coordinated with the Hanoi municipal Department of Transport, the municipal Department of Health, the Hanoi Capital High Command and the People's Committees of districts and towns to deploy 22 checkpoints at the major gateways of Hanoi to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic. Through inspection, there were many vehicles requested to turn back as they had not met the requirements of pandemic prevention.

At a toll station on the Cau Gie-Ninh Bình Expressway (Km188), Thanh Tri District, Hanoi, functional forces carry out preparations.

An inter-sectoral team had a short meeting before implementing the control work. The checkpoints have 11 officers participating in the response, including traffic police officers, mobile police, traffic inspectors, healthcare workers and local judicial officers.

The traffic police force coordinated with local forces to implement a feasible plan to both ensure good control of vehicles in and out and ensure safety against the epidemic.

Colonel Tran Ngoc Duong, deputy director of the Hanoi Police force, said that the 22 checkpoints have been set up to control the flow of all vehicles and people between Hanoi and other provinces and cities. However, the police hope to avoid causing traffic congestion, and the maintenance of production and business activities will be given the highest priority amid the pandemic.

Previously, on July 13, the Hanoi municipal Police Department sent an express document to departments, agencies and districts in the area on the establishment of 22 checkpoints at major gateways of Hanoi to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic.

At 7:00 a.m., functional forces checked and controlled the vehicles entering the city. All vehicles entering the city must stop for body temperature measurement and medical declarations; rapid testing of Covid-19 in suspected cases, disinfection in case of necessity; the checking and comparison test results.

Suspected cases traveling from epidemic areas will require testing.

The rapid test team has results within 15 to 20 minutes.

On this morning, vehicles were requested to turn back as they had not met the requirements of pandemic prevention.

Most of the drivers complied with the requirements of the authorities.

When the rapid test results are negative for COVID-19, people can continue into Hanoi.

At checkpoint No. 13, Highway 6 Hoa Binh - Hanoi, Traffic Police Team No. 12, led by Major Nguyen Ngoc Thuat, together with traffic inspectors, mobile police, military control, the Chuong My district health centre, and Xuan Mai town police station control the movement of vehicles in and out.

At the checkpoint, people from 14 epidemic-hit provinces are required to have a negative PCR test, valid for 3 days, to enter the city.

Other localities only need a quick paper test showing them as negative for SARS-CoV-2 to be able to move into Hanoi in order to avoid traffic jams on the road.

Functional forces check the documents of those entering the city.
