President Ho Chi Minh— Noble symbol of national will and aspiration for independence, freedom and happiness

A national scientific conference titled “President Ho Chi Minh — Noble symbol of national will and aspiration for independence, freedom and happiness” was held in Vinh City, Nghe An Province on 18 May, to commemorate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth (May 19, 1890 – 2025).

The event was jointly organised by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilisation, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Party Committees of Nghe An Province and Ho Chi Minh City.

The conference brought together members of the Politburo, central and local leaders, academics, and experts with the aim of revisiting the revolutionary life and work of President Ho Chi Minh and honouring his profound contributions to the Vietnamese people and the national liberation movement.

In his keynote address, Politburo member Nguyen Xuan Thang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, underlined the enduring relevance of Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, ethics, and leadership style in shaping modern Viet Nam.

The discussions emphasised the importance of creatively applying Ho Chi Minh’s thought in the new era, especially in the context of national unity, social development, and the Party’s leadership. Delegates explored the strategic vision of building a peaceful, independent, democratic, and prosperous Viet Nam by 2045, in line with the aspirations expressed by President Ho Chi Minh during his lifetime.

The conference featured 90 scholarly papers analysing the lasting value of President Ho Chi Minh’s legacy both within Viet Nam and around the globe. It concluded with a call for wider dissemination of his ideals and for embedding them into policymaking, education, and public consciousness.

Prior to the event, delegates paid tribute to the late President at the Kim Lien Special National Relic Site in Nam Dan District, expressing deep gratitude for his immeasurable service to the nation.
