The ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan.
The organising board received a total of 1,100 press entries for this year’s awards from 175 press agencies across the country, the highest number so far. Of which, four A prizes, 18 B prizes, 35 C prizes and 40 consolation prizes were awarded.
This year’s entries, covering various kinds of media including print, radio, television, online and photo-journalism, have reflected patriotic emulation movements throughout the country; Party building issues; practicing thrift and combating corruption and waste; and studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example. They have also promoted the strength of the great national unity bloc, especially in reducing poverty, preventing natural disasters and protecting the environment; fighting wrong allegations from hostile forces; and acknowledging exemplary role-models as well as the aspirations of people from all walks of life.
Chairman Nhan, on behalf of leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, congratulated the 97 winners of the 11th annual Press Awards entitled, ‘For the Cause of Great National Unity’.
He also highly appreciated the participation of the journalists from press agencies, who have joined hands with VFFCC to build a strong national unity bloc that will make positive contributions to the national development.
The Press Awards are considered an opportunity to honour and affirm the position, role and effect of the press in enhancing national unity, and its contributions to victory in the common cause of national renewal.
