In Hanoi’s inner city areas and main roads, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports promoted visual propaganda work of the meaning of these two important events, decorating about 2,500 vertical banners on roads and main streets.
The Thang Long-Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre organised the "Truong Son Road – Legendary Ho Chi Minh Road" exhibition at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel campus. The exhibition introduces about 100 documents and images about the birth of the “Line of Fire” on Truong Son Road, the strong vitality of the road through war bombs, becoming a miracle of fighting power.
Over the three evenings from April 28 to 30, Hanoi's art units organised many performance nights with the theme of praising the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, praising the homeland, and celebrating the country's unification through forms of music, drama, cheo, cai luong, dance, and circus, in many public spaces of districts and towns, and notably the suburban districts such as Ba Vi, My Duc, Ung Hoa.
In Da Nang, there were nearly 20 activities held to celebrate this year's April 30- May Day holiday, as the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches have opened the beach tourism season with many attractive cultural, sports and tourist activities.
According to the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City, during this holiday, it is expected to welcome 340,000 visitors, an increase of 5% over the same period last year, of which international visitors are expected to increase by nearly 4%.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the number of visitors to tourist and entertainment areas and attractions is estimated at 969,000, an increase of 2%. Domestic tourists are estimated to reach 325,000, an increase of 1.6% over the same period in 2023.
International visitors to Ho Chi Minh City are estimated to reach 54,000, an increase of 12.5%, with guests staying estimated to reach 200,000, an increase of 11% over the same period in 2023. Room capacity is estimated to reach 75%, an increase of 2.7% and revenue is estimated at VND 3,235 billion, up 3.4% over the same period in 2023.
On the evening of April 30, people flocked to the city centre in large numbers to enjoy the artistic fireworks display at the Saigon River area. This is the only high-altitude fireworks display among the five fireworks displays on the holidays of April 30 and May 1 in the city.
