Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh made the statement while meeting with the press in Hanoi on February 3 on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

Press and news agencies covered and highlighted foreign activities in an accurate, honest and timely manner in line with the Party and State’s foreign policy, contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national development, he emphasised.

Vietnam built strategic relationship frameworks and comprehensive partnerships with numerous countries in 2015 Politburo member Minh said, adding that the press’ timely coverage and proper analysis of the importance of these events gave a boost to Vietnam’s foreign affairs.

The press closely covered Party and State leaders’ activities in foreign countries, contributing dramatically to the success of the visits as well as promoting Vietnam to international friends, Minh noted.

2016 is the first year to realise the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress with both opportunities and challenges for Vietnam in implementing foreign activities, the deputy PM affirmed, urging press and news agencies to continue standing by the Foreign Ministry and relevant agencies to quickly and timely communicate the Party and State’s foreign policies, making significant contributions to national development.
